Leipzig Live - Feel the Spirit of Change PDF Print

Looking for „Leipzig, Germany“ on the internet, you will find many hints concerning what Leipzig stands for: friendly people; about 850 years of the city’s history; Boom-Town of Eastern Germany; city for exhibitions, congresses and trade; culture, sports, scene and shopping; Bach, Mendelssohn, Wagner and Grieg; Goethe and Schiller; City of the peaceful Revolution in 1989; city without limits and city of changes…

Leipzig has a remarkable history and is remarkable; a city where so many changes in Europe originated. You will be able to experience that directly at the city’s pulse of life; as you will be right there with all the other participants of the conference.

pic_leipzig_abendWelcome in “my” city! Welcome to „Leipzig Live“!

If you are not able to arrive a few days before the conference in order to explore the city, it will be possible to do this on Saturday, 2nd August.

We will start in the afternoon taking the tram at the Congress Centre of the exhibition. After ten minutes you will be in front of Leipzig’s main station, directly at the city centre. This is the starting point for your individual discovery tour. You can choose what you would like to do. Are you interested in history? Visit the historical city centre, participate in a guided tour of a museum or learn more about Rome in 312 in the Panometer. Do you like to dance or listen to the music? Visit the major stage at the Augustusplatz and dive deeper into the music of different continents and countries. Livebands, choirs and musicians will show you their world of music. Do you like to experience a culinary adventure? Innumerable cafés with creations of ice cream and cakes and restaurants with German cooking are waiting for you. Would you like to know how to change the world peacefully? Go to the Nikolaikirche and participate in a prayer of peace. Visit the contemporary history forum, which offers guided tours exclusively for you. Or do you just want to go for a stroll in the city? Many stores – whether small and major ones – will open their doors for you.

The highlight of the „Leipzig Live day“ will be the evening. You are invited to join the celebration at the Augustusplatz along with the people of Leipzig and all the other participants of the conference. Starting at 7 p.m., the radio and television presenter Andreas Malessa will host a show of two hours and present you Leipzig in a more detailed way. You will get to know people who changed Germany through prayers and demonstrations in 1989; you will hear the music of Johann Sebastian Bach played by real Gewandhausmusiker (famous musicians); you will get to know Christians who experienced God’s Spirit of change directly in their lives; you will see how wonderful it is to worship God with Christians of different churches. Additionally, you will be able to listen to Judy Bailey and her band, to Helmut Jost and Gospelfire and many other bands that are looking forward to coming to “Leipzig Live”.
