Welcome to the participants of the 15th Baptist Youth World Conference and to Leipzig’s citizens on the website www.dive-deeper.org.

After being the venue for the Protestant Church congresses in 1954 and 1997 as well as the German Protestant Day of Trombone in 2008, I am very glad that again another important churchly event, the 15^th Baptist Youth World Conference, will take place in our city, on the new fair grounds; this will be another highlight in Leipzig’s life that will directly lead into our city centre on August, 2^nd. The main idea behind “Leipzig Live – Feel the Spirit of Change” during this international Youth Conference is to recall the political change in 1989 at original locations, to feel its the atmosphere.

For many people, it was the faith in God that smoothed the peaceful way for a united Germany, away from dictatorship; it was the longing for freedom, the numerous prayers and devotions of hopeful people in the churches of our city. Contemporary witnesses of this peaceful revolution will tell you about the spirit of change, how candles triumphed over guns and how Leipzig’s citizens wrote a fascinating chapter of world history. Additionally, musical highlights and many meetings and conversations with Leipzig’s hospitable and friendly citizens will make this day in the heart of Leipzig a memorable experience.
